The Community Orchard and the surrounding biodiversity area are owned and managed by the Parish Council. The site was laid out in 2021 and sown with a wildflower meadow mixture. East Cambridgeshire District Council and the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group have given grants towards developing the orchard and creating the pond, and local residents have generously sponsored individual trees.

The hedgerows enclosing the area and the first fruit trees were planted by an army of volunteers in early 2022. More trees were planted in 2023 and a final batch of planting in 2024 completed the orchard. All of the 35 apple, plum and pear trees (with two exceptions) are Cambridgeshire heritage varieties. The wildflower meadow around the trees is allowed to flower and seed naturally before being mown in late summer. An area is kept mown for ball games and provided with picnic benches so that families can enjoy our orchard.
