The Wardy Hill Social Club building is thought to have been bought at auction by local residents several years ago.
Since then, no one has been able to establish who owns it. We have tried to trace the original buyers and their families, but without success. Because the building has no legal owner, it is very difficult to get sufficient grant funding to do anything with it — whether that means repairing it, bringing it back into use, or demolishing it.
The only way to unlock that funding is for a new community organisation to legally claim ownership of the building and the land it stands on.
If enough people don’t come forward to make this happen, nothing can be done. The building will continue to deteriorate and the community will lose any say over its future.
This survey asks whether you support taking that step, and if so, what you think should happen to the building. Please click the link below to complete the brief survey. Thank you.
